Beware Google AdSense

I am SO furious right now. I saw on another blogger's site that the Google AdSense was showing a "Yes on Prop 8" ad - even though her posting had NOTHING to do with gay marriage, Prop 8, matrimony...nothing. So I decided to check what my Google AdSense was saying. Sure enough, it had a Yes on Prop 8 thing.

Um, hello?!? Anyone see my big button for NO on Prop 8?!?

So I've taken my Google AdSense off my site. Just a heads up.

Good for you for taking it down. That's infuriating.

WTF? Hm, maybe I should just take mine off as well, though the 35c I have made in the last two months might really help....

I also noticed (to my horror!) that my site was showing "Yes on 8" Google ads this morning! Not only do I strongly oppose Prop 8, but these ads are also completely irrelevant to the content on my site (a Bay Area anime resource and community)!

You're supposed to be able to filter the ads out by doing the following:

1. Login to your AdSense account
2. Navigate to: AdSense Setup -> Competitive Ad Filter
3. Enter "protectmarriage.com" in the text box
4. Press the "Save changes" button

However it hasn't worked for me yet (changed it almost an hour ago) so I just took the ads down for now.

Seems they are making a huge push right about now. It makes sense but is still so infuriating...

We took the AdSense ads down on our other blog because of "questionable" advertising being pushed.

They suck.

Good for you...that is totally ridiculous. I've always been tempted to check out AdSense, but it seems sketchy like that to me.

That would have pissed me off, too. How odd that they were willing to run that ad.
