Weekend Wrap-Up

I think it's taken having a weekend in order to fully get back in the swing of things. Some things, of course, were necessary to jump in again with both feet (like, um, mothering), but on things like catching up on my Reader, writing...well, they've taken a bit longer.

There are also some things I'm reading where I'm not commenting, either because I have too much or nothing at all to say on the subject. I'll probably find my commenting mojo sooner. Or later. We'll see.

I have a new blog in my Reader where I most likely will not be commenting: The White House. I love that!

My latest post is up at LA Moms.

I think I'm experiencing some post-vacation depression. Depression is too strong a word, but you know what I mean.

I'm pissed about the state of CA's budget affairs. I understand the blame to the legislature, but at the same time, they came to a budget compromise a while back, and the Governator vetoed it so it doesn't seem right that he's not getting more of the blame. I also think I have to place a call or email to tell the Governator how stupid I think it is that they're planning on shutting down government offices every other Friday rather than another day of the week. People who work part-time or 4-day work-weeks are more likely to use Friday as a personal business day, or, in the case of Parks and Rec, a day to visit state parks. This will interfere with more people's lives than it should if it's kept to Friday. Also, I'm going to be getting an IOU rather than my state tax refund. Lovely.

That's it. That's all I've got.

I swear that's the worst part of a vacation...the after vacation blues. You spend weeks/months having the vacation to look forward to and then it's just over...that's it...no more to look forward to. UGH!

If it helps in any way, I can't even get up enough gumption to READ my reader stuff unless it is a handful of my faves; commenting? Pah. And FWIW, I am glad you are home. Love you.

I'm not doing so well at commenting these days either. I'm reading my faves but not always able (or have the energy) to comment.

Post-vacay blues suck. I hope you get your mojo back soon. Miss you!

Sometimes I think California is run like it's a republic unto itself. Sorry to hear of the state woes.

I'm with you on reading and commenting.

That time of year?

I know about vacation depression. I felt it after coming home from Cali. It's such a whirlwind, you know?

The budget crisis pisses me off for so many reasons. I don't even know what kind of kindergarten "Jacob" will be attending next year because of it. The political a-holes need to get off of their bandwagons and figure out something that really works instead of bickering about it. I would be BEYOND livid if my job told me I was taking a day off every paycheck w/o pay.

Oh, and don't feel bad about anything in blogland, we're pretty much all feeling it. :)

Yes, depression...the holidays are over, the swearing in of Obama, the Ann Arbor Folk Festival...I need something to look forward to.

These state budget shortfalls are pretty annoying. Can we do an IOU if we owed taxes? So why should we be okay with getting it as a refund. Oh well. I have so much to say but can't even begin to write it. It's all the same stuff over and over and over. I went right to the White House website and got on the email list. So exciting.
